NATO paint colours: a colourful question!

Any one got some good matches for the NATO Green, Brown and Black instead of the Tamiya XF paints.

I have tried the paint conversion chart but no matches are found.

Dont need to be 100% just near enough.

NATO Green (RAL 6014) = Vallejo Model Color 894 Russian Green , Vallejo Model Air 14 (Gunship Green) or 17 (Russian Green)

NATO Brown = Vallejo Model Color 846 (Mahogany Brown), Vallejo Model Air 40 (Burnt Umber) or Vallejo Model Air 80 (Rust)

NATO Black = Vallejo Model Air 56 (Black Grey) or 21 (Black Green)

Now you see thats where I started to end up. BUT the RAL # I turned up are RAL 6031 for the green, 8027 for the brown and 9021 for the black.

Ral 6031 converts to US dark Green Vallejo 893, the Brown RAL 8027 as Leather brown (V871) And 9021 as black grey. I have even found one place that says the Brown equals Chocolate brown (vallejo 872) which is a very different brown.

Various other model sites have stated Olive drab, Dark earth and rubber black.

I'm either getting confused or to hung up on numbers.

Been watching some video of the real thing; Modern German Armour and I am starting to get an eye for the colours. I guess I will end up doing what I normally do. Eyeball Mk I and go for it.

      Cheers Al
