I had a look Adrian and there are no exact matches. But I did find this link which discusses the various colours. Pontiac and AMC Engine colors - General - Model Cars Magazine Forum

It seems Pontiac engines from 1959-65 were a 'sky blue' colour, and post that they were sometimes a 'metallic blue with green tinge', aka 'Alamosa Aqua'. Unsure if that Testors colour is metallic, but I can't find anything to say it is. It was suggested that the nearest Tamiya paint is a spray called 'coral blue'. That equates to TS41.

    Hope this helps you.

Thanks Joe, I've had a look and it seems a little too blue for my use, I'm working on the Moebius Colonial Viper MKII and it says the main hull is Pontiac engine blue, I think the Tamiya XF23 may work if I mix in a little grey to tone it down

Hi ade you working on the mk VII viper, this will be my next build as well. I have been looking at revell aqua 374 which isn't all that far away from Pontiac blue. Try the colour charts together and see what you think.

I have found that comparing colour charts from different manufacturers especially Tamilya and Vallejo that although colours can look the same in many cases are worlds apart :-(

very true indeed, the photos on line of the mk VII viper are a very blue gray colour, so i have printed the colour chart out which includes pontiac blue and have used a small brush and all the blue gray paints i have, i have painted small stripes of the closest colours that i have next to the chart. Now i know that usually does not mean much but revell aqua 374 seems to be the closest to pontiac blue, it seems to be the closest in tone anyway.

Hi again Ade I have made a start on my mkVII viper and completely by accident I dropped tamiya xf 20 and x14 sky blue and the colour comes the closest to Pontiac blue without buying Pontiac blue, I know you had said that you use mainly tamiya paint as do I so this was a very happy accident

Thanks for that, I've been delayed starting mine trying to get club group builds and commission builds done but hope to start it soon.
