Best spray booth for less than £150?

I know this subject has probably been flogged to death on here, but

Can anybody point me in the direction of a good booth for around this price or less. It needs to have full exhaust, as the room i work in is pretty small.

I have seen those cheap things with the tumble drier hose that hangs out the window, but it seems a tad flimsy and i have read it doesn't really get rid of the fumes, instead it takes the harmful bits out and recirculates, so not too sure at the moment which way to go.

Any info would be great, thanks.

    Luke this is my contribution.

I have an HS-E420. Not sure of the name as retailers call them after themselves.

Collapsible if you have space difficulties. Can be used either as a recirculated with double filters. Or as an optional extra they have a hose system with a spade type extract at the end. Open the window about 40mm & trap it between the window & frame.

I use it with a hose & you take one of the filters out. Better with a hose but is still works well with the filter.

The fan is quiet in use. Tried the smoke test & it works well. You only have to place your hand in front of the hose end to feel the force. They are addable to another to make a booth twice the size for large in my case aircraft.

No light. It has near transparent sides & roof. You need a light to shine into it .

Flimsy. It is foldaway so it is not as robust as a fixed tin one. But then they are very expensive. Providing it is treated with respect there is no problem at all.

Go for about £70 plus hose option at about £15.

Does two things for me. Keeps all the paint within the paint booth & clears the fumes out.

Not for less than £150 but I use an Exagon extractor/booth, the XG555-D. It will cost around £200 from Grapic Air or Bench Vent for example, but you may find a deal somewhere.

It shifts 355 cubic meters of air an hour and my work area remains odourless. I spray enamels and sometimes laquers which can certainly whiff a bit

It's a lot of money, but it's a substantial piece of kit that should serve for years, mine already has. The downside is that it does take up some space.

      Cheers

I find this very good. It is probably not big enough for a whole 1/72 Lancaster, but otherwise I like it.

This is the HS-E420 Steve. For a Lancaster you can get another & just add on, permanent or temporarily, which gives approx 800mm (2feet 6").

I'm on the lookout for a "booth" too.

That looks similar to this one on ebay, I don't know if the dimensions are the same but the ebay one is about £25 cheaper.

Its definitely the same. Although there is nothing to check the scale, I don't think they would have another one that is bigger—I think I would have discovered it. I have finished painting my 1/72 Lancaster despite the limitation that I mentioned in my original post—I kept the wings unattached to the last and could therefore paint them and the fuselage separately (although the booth took both detached wings at the same time).

They only do one size Steve. Andy that is a good deal specially as it is post free. Most places are selling them for 72-75 plus the optional hoses at approx £15.

As mentioned above they are designed to twin 2 & get a good large spray area. Producing a Merlin 1/48 at the moment and although I will get the fuselage in the hood there is no way that i will be able to manipulate it. The problem is that with a larger piece you will tend to pull the piece out of the hood to manipulate which defeats the object mostly. They are for the price nice units & shift all the junk to the outside.
