    Meths?

Is it OK to use meths to thin paints? I keep reading that different people use it to great effect. I have Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics.

    Cheers in advance.

Well, meths is effectively Denatured alcohol, (which is why it works great in Trangia stoves).

However, the problem I can see is that it has a dye in it to give it it's distinctive purple colour, it's possible this might affect the final colour?

I've not tried it myself, you'd be as well off getting some Isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol, (Chemist, Maplins), which has the advantage of being colourless.

I'm no expert but I suspect you'd have problems with acrylics drying too quickly because the meths will evaporate.
