    The next stages of weathering

After applying a gloss coat, I decaled (the kit decals were incomplete, so I bought a Eagle Cal set to provide the swastikas and stenciling which is prominent and colourful on this model, improving the appearance.)

I then added a Flory black wash, here it is.

    After wash removal:

Next is to apply a matt coat then more weathering - pics to follow next week.

Nice tutorial, I am currently building the HMS Warspite as with most WWII ships, there is a lot of grey, I will try this to vary the grey on the superstructure.

I have done some paint chipping and wear plus oil streaks and smoke marks.

I am well on the way to finishing now with final fittings. I will next post a completion build on another thread.

Barry very many thanks for taking the time to put this thread together. This is a superb tutorial on weathering and helps to explain some of the finer aspects of it. You should write a book!!

Thanks Barry as Richard has said it all. Thanks for your time and effort. It does take time, as I have experienced (interferes with model progress as well), to put this together and it is appreciated. This is what this Forum should be all about and it is a pity more do not put in this sort of work.

            Thanks.
