Choosing a Rack for Paint Bottles

A while back there was some discussion of racks suitable for storing paint bottles and jars. Nail varnish and beauty creams etc. racks were mentioned. I can't find any locally to inspect for being the correct size. So would anyone with a rack bought on the Internet suitable for Vallejo bottles and Tamiya jars please let me have the product number and web address where bought.

For Vallejo, the bottle size is 1 1/4" high and 1" diameter. For Tamiya jars, 1 7/8" high and 1 1/2" diameter.

I was looking at these on ebay the other day, I don't know if they are what you are looking for?

At first glance they seemed good, but the bottles and jars are stored on their sides so the colour and paint number would not show, requiring bottles to be searched by removing. But thanks.

If you check out the Facebook page of 'The Real Model Shop' there is a paint rack on their site that maybe suitable!

You could make your own, its pretty simple, I have a home made one in my shed for summer use, it doubles as a modelling desk as well.

I've only made 8 slots for my use but you can drill out more if required.

Couldn't you label the front of the stand? That's how all my stands are

Nip down to the latest closing model shop and flog their manufacturer's racks.

Just Steve go down to your local B & Q.

They do a nice range of well produced timber lengths of all sizes.

Vallejo, that is me, choose a piece of timber the depth of Vallejo container. Two small metal brackets, yes B & Q. and there we have a a shelf all fitted to the wall. Simple, effective and attractive.

Just add as required and you have the simplest most attractive and cheapest paint rack ever invented by man whoops no sorry B & Q.

For larger bottles of washes brush cleanr etc just get a wider piece of timber.

I have 13 of these 3 feet wide housing on average 30 pieces per shelf. Cost about £25. Nothing to touch it. Hoses approx 180 containers.

Yes, I was thinking that the best plan, to suit my requirements, is to make one.

Magnificent. I like the idea of different heights. If I made one, I would make it self-contained (with a back) and hang it on the wall.

                            Hi Steve,

I have considered building my own a few times and you easily can out of plywood and round drill bits. I have the exact size drill bits around so it is possible to build your own paint rack.
