Sorry, makes you wonder who comes up with these things though. You could do a lot worse than look at the exhaust manufolds of some well used vehicles such as builders diggers etc! To me they are basically a dark brown but very matt with a rough texture (mix some talc in with the paint) and some additional washes and shading. Perhaps a dry brushing over the top with a lighter tone of the same brown.
Humbrol do a Gunmetal (enamel No. 53) which is a darkened steely color, which would probably be fine, although you could mix it with or dry brush on some different shades to add depth.
Thanks Richard info and I knew some one would say it lol
Migrant funny enough I have used the gun metal by humbrol and added some of polox advice
This is what I've come up with
It does need a little touching up and maybe a drybrushing of steel but I don't think it's that far away tbh anyway no one will see it due to the engine cover
Thanks for the advice and info gents and lady , I've added a little bit of steel to it and it's given it a worn look , I'm not to sure about the red , I think Richard ( bunkerbarge ) had a better idea of using browns.
This was just a test piece as you won't see it on the finished build but it's great to try new colour schemes for future builds
I do it the other way around- I start with a dark brown and then pick up highlights with lighter tones and silver. A wash of grime and Robert is your mothers brother.
