This winter I built two layouts of which both featured Hornby points for sidings etc,it seems that no matter what I do the engines seem to run very lumpy over them sometimes causing derailments, even small shunting engines do not ride very well into the points themselves ? my question is, is there a known problem with Hornby points and can they be improved for smoother operations,or dare I say it is there a more reliable alternative ? open to any advice on this as it is spoiling operation of the layouts, they are mounted carefully dead flat with frogs neatly pushed together, over to the railway buffs here ! thank you.
