Oh I see now! You would put the goods train into the siding then isolate the siding (electrically) then run the HST onto that section of track.
My layout in the making

Still looking good Steven,
I like the idea of the fiddle yard and you have clearly thought it out, hope it works as well in practice for you.
Coming on very nicely now

Well got all the money together and i went upto the people i ordered the orient express bpxed set off and when we got there is stall was closed but there was a piece of card stuck to the shutter of the stall and it read:This stall has closed for good, so that helps me alot i ordered something off them and there closed for good.
So we went home to buy one off the internet but my dad told my mum to ring the other shop not far from us to see if they had one in and by luck they did and they only got it yesterday so we went and got it for £200 here's some photos of my new buy

To continue with the fiddle yard i have done some drawing on paint to show where the fiddle yard will go and ow to get trains from the main layout to the fiddle yard under the layout:The first one is of the left side of the layout and fiddle yard
And the second one is off the right side of the layout with the train lift and fiddle yard
Well the fiddle yard will have it's own controller to power the fiddle yard and when the lift comes down there will be some sort of contact strip to connect power from the fiddle yard to the lift, and when it is at the main layout level one of the main controller will put power to the lift via contact strips aswell, so the lift will only have power when it is at either level via the controllers.
Here's another drawing of it,i will do the proper drawings on paper anyway here it is
Just done a quick drawing on paint program to show how the power will be connected to the lift

Big development
My mum has been saying my layout would be better in the other room and i sleep in the room that my layout is now as i will have more room for stuff that's in the room i sleep in now and i agree with her after i had done some measuring of the other room, as with having the layout in the other room i can make my layout bigger by using all the walls and i won't have to keep crawling under the layout every time to do something, so the layout will measure 14ft x 7ft 5 " on one wall and 6ft on the other wall, plus with layout still in the track laying stage it will be easy to dismantle it and start a new layout so it's by by old layout and hello new layout. And gives me a chance to design my layout properly.Comment

Here's some photos of the new baseboard between the two 6x4 ones with some track on it the track in the photos is for the diesel depot and paint shop.
in this one is all my stuff for the layout
On the 6x3 baseboard the ply sheets still need to be screw down as there are only 4 screws in it to hold it in place.Comment

Right i have finished the 6x3 baseboard as it is all screwed up two legs have been fitted to it and i am starting on the upper level tomorrow, but for now i have relayed all the track onto cork to see what it would like with it under it i have placed the turntable on there too but all track will have tobe taken up again to work on upper level anyway here are some photos.

Today i have done abit of work in between helping my dad with the stairs and my bad back the first five photos are of the incline going up towards the small station on the upper level.I also need to fit a few more supports to it.
And this one is where the small station will be on the upper level but it needs to be cut on my scroll saw and then fixed in place then i can work on the incline going up from main baseboard which is about 7ft long.
The incline going under the baseboard towards the train lift will be fun doing as the 6x3 baseboard has to be removed to do it,while it is removed i can sand abit more off the strengthing brace for the incline going under as it is a bit to tight still when removing the baseboard on one end.Comment

Today i have cut the 4x2 board to shape and fitted it as you will see in these photos and i have also placed the other 4x2 sheet for the other side and the centre piece aswell which both need cutting.
