    Plodding along.....
Apart from the front boggies, the running gear is almost complete. I have to wait until the lid is on before I can finish it off.

          Hi Ron
With all the running gear able to be built to move was this intended to have a motor and be part of an OO/HO layout?
          Looking good.
          Jim

I think they were designed for the more adventurous to motorise them, I think that's why they left the flanges off the centre driving wheels to get round tighter curves on the track.

Jim. judging by the frail bits of plastic, I don't think a motorized loco would travel more than a few inches, if at all, before the whole thing disintegrated!
Great posts too. That made me chuckle J.R. 453!

                Cheers.

Not sure about motorisation, but the only reason to go flangeless on the middle drivers is to get around trainset curves.....I had a friend at school that put a Triang Jinty chassis in one and used the plastic valve gear on it....the loco could complete whole track circuits before the gear fell off, sometimes it could even do two circuits LOL
These days you can (or could once) get an etched chassis and valve gear replacement kit for this loco....
