Wasn't going to say anything until it was done Ron, i'm not one for trains but this is great. Beautiful job on the weathering too mate, looks used at they should be top marks from me.
I'm the same as you John, but I decided to make this as I was feeling a bit 'Stale' and couldn't motivate much enthusiasm for modelling armour and the like. O.K. now though!
It also brought back memories of my dad and I racing our respective OO scale trains around a track he had built in the spare room. No scenery, just tracks.
His train caught up with mine and de-railed it!... Me being a stroppy 10yr. old told him where to shove his train ( In 10yr old terms) Bad move, off came the belt...again!!
Ron mate, glad to see youre back among us, (although ive been spending alot less time in the dad cave too, what with all this lovely weather)Now then ,what a brilliant job on this loco, excellent muckying and great photography too as usual. I bet its only the fact its an odd scale thats stopped you making a dio with it, although 1/87 figures would be a bugger to paint . Great job and looking forward to whatever youve got in store for the GB , cheers tony
Good one Ron. Your 'splash it on all over' technique has worked very nicely (Not related to 'Our 'enry' are you?).
I've looked at this kit a few times but I think it's a bit small scale for me. I've also been put off by the low parts count. I'm not saying I need kits with a zillion parts for all the fiddly details, but this kit should have more bits to it. You mentioned the moulded on handrail as a good example.
Anyway, you done a smashin' job of it. What you doin' next?
Thanks boys for taking time out to view the brute and for the nice comments.
Tony, I just can't get a grip on any 'sustained modelling' this time of the year, it's far too nice to be indoors, 'specially at dusk when the bats are about in the garden!
Scott, I just fancied a bit of a change from armour and things military and a chuff chuff seemed a good idea!
Dave, our 'enry with 'is splash all over, Brute aftershave, what a star....I well remember his fight with Cassius Clay, as Ali was called then. He stung him real good and nearly downed him, and would have done if not for the bell. But the next round Clay gave him some umpy and Cooper's face split open and the fight was stopped, but our 'enry nearly had him!
Oh, the kit! It made into a nice model, but a vast amount of detail was all done for you in the one piece body. There is no excuse for the long main handrail being moulded into the boiler sides, it looks awful. I do agree the kit should have more bits but to be fair, it is aimed at level 3 out of 5. Which I didn't know when I was looking at it on the web.
What next?
I have my WW1 diorama to progress with, and once that's done I will think about what to do for the G.B.
Hi Ron showed my mate in work the train ... he's big on his trains part of the reason hes working with them anyway he loves it and he wants one.... you've created a monster will not hear the end of this now till he gets one lol. Seriously though lovely work.

Glad you like it Scott, thanks.
Also your mate seems to have fallen in luuuurve with the Big Boy.
Despite my reservations, it does make up into an impressive loco. Well, two joined together really....It was built to haul in excess of 4000 tons!
