My own boat club is the Kirklees Model Boat Club. They are actually a very freindly group of model boat enthusiasts who welcomed me a couple of years ago. They have an active involvement in most of the Northern based events and have a stand at most of the shows.
Here is the information page posted from the website:
Kirklees Model Boat Club promote the hobby of model building and sailing, we meet as a club every Sunday Morning and Wednesday afternoons on the Park Lake, Wilton Park, Bradford Road, Birstall, Batley. West Yorkshire. The area is a public park, whereby members of the public can also sail anytime they wish.
We meet about 09.30am in the morning on Sundays and about 1pm on Wednesdays. You will see us there all year round come rain or shine. Members have been known to 'break the ice' during winter in order to sail. Always a warm drink available every Sunday Morning. We also have a Lock up container which houses all the club equipment and rescue boats.
Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join, there are no restrictions and no limits on membership, we are a friendly club who will assist anyone with their model building. Come down to the lakeside or use the link below, to contact our treasurer, Mr Robert Kaye for further information regarding membership. bob@kirkleesmodelboatclub.org.uk
Regarding enquiries about club activities, events and visits to other club and displays please contact our Public Relations Officer Stan Reffin stan@kirkleesmodelboatclub.org.uk or telephone 0113 267 5790
To find us, from the M62 Junction 27, follow the signs for A62 Huddersfield, to the junction with Bradford Road, about 1 mile, turn left at the traffic lights following the sign for Dewsbury, approximately 1 mile from the traffic lights, on the left is Wilton Park. Any further information/directions please contact webmaster@kirkleesmodelboatclub.org.uk
Visit the 'History' section, for an insight into our club history and our sailing water at Wilton Park.
We have a new category called 'Information', this will include details of membership, club events, information on many aspects of model building and radio control.
Another new page will be 'Features', this will be made up of interesting stories, a short story about 'R.M.S Titanic' and the building of 'M.S. Britannia' a Rhine Cruise Boat.
The Gallery will have plenty of photos of our models , it is hoped to include a page for all the modellers who surf the net, so they can submit a photograph of their boat as an e-mail attachment to yours truly for inclusion in the 'Gallery.' Please use the link below to send your photo.
Despite having a large membership, we are mainly scale modellers, therefore request for more 'speed boats' is not realistic, we have the odd few fast electric and club 500.
