    My flightsimsite

I made this site years ago as the only site that time that was dedicated to the flightsim Fly! and Fly2.After the head programmer, teamleader died of cancer, the sim went down.TRI who owned the rights to the sim , wouldn,t develop further versions. So now MS rules the market of civilian flightsims....

So now the site is kind of nostalgic. There are stil some hardcore Fly!'ers out there that uses the sim, new addons are developed each week, but I as many other have converted to the "enemy" Microsoft Flight Simulator....

Interesting Johnny how many flight sims have come and gone over the years. It makes you wonder how many of them could have rivalled MS Flight Simulator with the same backing.

It's not easy to stand up against M$.....

They even bought the rights to the aircraft names, such as cessna etc.

So TRI wasn't allowed to call their Cessna Cessna....they had to call it Flyhawk....

And of course with all that money in their back, and close to 100% of the market, there is no way others can enter that world.

Same goes for the Flight Unlimited series, and Sierras Pro Pilot

X-plane is in another catagory, with only the sworn diciples using it, and claims that X-plane is the only "real" sim out there.

But with that said....the latest flightsim from M$ the FS9, was a very good sim, when you take away most of the Microsoft stuff and add third partys planes, scenery, clouds, water, nightlight, sky and other addons.

I have spent a lot of dollars to get that sim the way I want it

        Howdy Johnny,

I have a cd of a flight sim called Fly2K, that I bought somewhere, back around 1999 or 2000. I dont know if its the same as you are talking about, but I will get it out and look it over, as I remember, it was a nice flight sim.

Anyway, I will let you know more about it when I dig it out of my other flight sim cd's.

        Have a good day,

        Greg

Thats right Greg! Fly2k was the upgraded Fly2.There came some patches to "finish" the sim, and with those applied it became Fly2k.

            Howdy Johnny,

Well, believe it or not, there was a time when I wasnt building models, but was spending alot of time on my old 1995 compaq presario desktop computer....one I still use today I might add, complete with windows 95' on it. I was really into simulators of all kinds including the Fly2K, and the early MS flight sims along with others.

I have since then aquired a sony vaio laptop and when I first got it, continued to buy sims. I have all of the MS sims, I still have the fly2K, along with tank sims, helicopter sims, and even a few submarine sims, my favorite of the submarine sims would have to be one produced by the novelist Tom Clancy called SSN where I get to launc tomahawk missiles at bio weapons plants in mainland china while fighting off other subs, surface ships, and airborne threats such as ASW helicopters.

I have a sim of the M1A2 main battle tank, called "Armoured fist" as well as a flight sim with aircraft of the Korean war called mig alley.

The Fly2K and MS flight sims are my favorites of civillian aircraft while yet another flight sim called "NAVY FIGHTERS 97' " is my favorite military aircraft sim. It has aircraft and dogfights (as they were) of the viet nam era and you can use weapons from cluster bombs to bunker busters etc.

However, yet another sim called YF 22 stealth fighter is a close second in as muc as I can use tactical nuclear weapons AND I can also play it online against other people on the net.

All in all, I have sims of about anything you can imagine even though I have gotten to where I do not play them much anymore. However, I might have to break them out and start playing them again.

            Have a good day,

            Greg

Greg and Johnny, having spent a fortune on adding scenery and terrain packs to FS2004 I know what you mean, there is some good aircraft add ons out there if you search for them, the fun for me is flying around your own area and landing in fields etc,or even by helicopter into your garden, there is still room for improvement on the basic FS2004,for what you pay they should make the scenery more realistic, especially down to ground level,it will come in time just as Google Earth is improving the topography Flight Simmers will reap those benefits.
