I am sure like myself there are many modellers who really appreciate superb craftsmanship,one country where this is still practised is Japan where model building is taken very seriously indeed,in this country are some of the finest scale modellers who unselfishly share their unlimited knowledge so we can all benefit and improve our own small creations,by visiting the link above you will see what I mean as modellers show us first hand how to whittle a piece of fine timber into a beautiful scale model airplane,whether your directions take you to build cars,boats or aeroplanes rest assured that you will almost certainly learn something from these masters,by all means have a laugh at the quaint lingo but try and see the sheer dedication that goes into the workmanship so typical of a country like Japan,you will be led through the stages of the somewhat lost art of whittling with simple and basic tools ( note from the pictures that many are themselves home made tools ) and at the end see the finished product in all of its glory.
