    Tamiya extra thin cement

    Afternoon all

    For those of you who like to use the above cement, use the link below as they have 40+ in stock

    it's £4.75 a jar and at times hard to gell hold of.

      Thanks I've been using this for a while it's really good stuff, I don't know how they are allowed to sell it as it's banned in the UK, if the glue is the only thing you want it's a bit expensive with the £3.50 postage I got mine for £5.81 inc p&p from ebay

          You know i've looked for this in model shops every time I happen across one, being banned would explain the fact I never find any.

          Why is it banned can I ask?

          I have a bottle of Humbrol thin cement which i bought years ago when I built my last couple of serious kits, it's water thin and works well, the only complaint I have is that the included brush was too thick, hence the looking for the Tamiya stuff, i've now dedicated a brush specificlaly for applying it to hard to reach places, (inside the walls of the Apollo Saturn V rocket i'm building springs to mind) and i've chopped about two thirds of the bristles on the bottled brush which seems to help.

          I assumed that they were pretty much the same stuff but I guess the Tamiya stuff is a bit more on the risky shemicals side of things?

          Incidentally the Humbrol bottle is still about 8/10 full. It' lasted an age but I do use a combination of gel type humbrol, the thin stuff and superglue.

              I've read a few reasons why it's banned, some say chemicals and also something to do with an EU so not really sure what the problem is, but the brush is really thin and the glue works well, worth getting some.

                  As far as I know the ban on some Tamiya products is simply because they do not comply with European labelling laws. Not that they are dangerous, well no more than any others, they simply don't have the right labels to sell here. If we were not in Europe we would be able to by this from Hobbycraft. That is not a political statement on behalf of any party that is currently unable to form a Government in this Nation of ours.......

                      I have a little stash to keep me going. I've heard that the "banning" is an 'elf and safety issue due to the labelling being in Japanese.
